Christ's Statement of I am from the Father

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

Are there any views on Jesus being the only Holy Prophet saying He was from the Father. I ask this as a Catholic who believes He is the Son of God. So far in my reading I have not come across any other prophet in any other religion to make this statement. I would very much be interested in feed-back.

Peace - Jean B.

Dear Jean, I have not come across any other prophet who makes this claim. They do claim to be inspired by God, but directly from him. Ellen

Jean, I don't recall anyother human in scripture making this claim. Did you mean stating this fact about Christ or themselves. It was not clear to me. Many said they were sent by God, but not from God. FROM the Father meaning begotten not made. Sent by God meaning created and comissioned. What do you think???

As far as I am aware, the claim to be The Son of God is unique to Christ. Even Mohammed, who came after and considered Jesus as being one of the earlier prophets, did not go all the way to claim such a thing. It4s good to remember that the formal charge against Jesus by the Synedrium was exactly this...
