July 8th Meeting of Contra Costa 2000, CB Radio Workshop

The next meeting of CONTRA COSTA 2000 will be held on July 8, 1999.

A newcomers orientation will be held at 6:00 p.m. featuring a new Y2K video each meeting.

Our regular meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m.

Meeting Location: 2425 Bisso Lane, Concord, CA (Off Concord Ave. Enter the meeting from the door facing Bisso Lane)

There is no cost to attend this meeting.

Meeting Agenda:

7:00 - 8:00 Introductions and "updating". What are your current experiences, feelings, concerns and questions surrounding the Y2K issues.

8:00 - 8:30 Exploring the use of Citizens Band radios (CB's) as an alternative communication resource.

CB's can be valuable tools when other forms of communication are down. They allow you to communicate with local emergency service providers and community resources.

8:30 - 9:00 Discussion on future guest speakers and workshop topics.

Y2K COMMUNITY PREPAREDNESS Our Mission is to explore the Y2K computer problem - its possible effects and ways community members can be better prepared for whatever may happen.

2425 Bisso Lane in Concord (off Concord Avenue - entrance on Bisso Lane).

Anyone interested is invited to join us in our meetings. No Cost to attend.

6pm - Newcomers We will view the Y2K Investigative Video shown on TV June 30, 99.

7 to 9 pm - Regular Meeting Speakers will be Ed Calderon (CB Radios) and Terry Matzkin (Ham Radio). They will tell us about these emergency communications systems. THIS JULY 8TH MEETING IS THE ONLY MEETING SCHEDULED FOR JULY.

THE AUGUST MEETING IS AUGUST 5TH. Ron Bacon of Oasys Networks will speak to us about getting our home and small business computers Y2K prepared. Ron does this work for a living so he is quite informed about it. Come with your specific questions.
