Solar or conventional? If it's conventional, try the Yellow Pages. If it's a hand pump, try Lehmans.com

does any one have the emergency hand pump from lehman's. If so does it work well and what is the difference between the old time hand pump. the reason i'm asking is there is a big price differance and i was told a regular hand pump won't work.thank you for any info. need water

The problem is the depth of your well. I have read that most hand pumps won't work well or at all below 20 feet. My well is 134 feet. I bought a Stalwart side-by-side that fits down inside the well with the regular pump and can be used in emergencies. It pumps about 2-3 gal per minute, but it works. It was very expensive, but they all are at that depth. It is PVC so probably won't stand up to prolonged heavy daily use. http://www.coolandunusual.com/y2k/y2kstore/y121twok/waterpump.html (I believe Cumberland also had one that is a lever pump rather than a push pull http://www.cumberlandgeneral.com/ ) There is a simple design using a garden hose for less than 20 feet. The design might be on the survival library site. Can't find it right now.

Try Rintoul, http://www.handpumps.com. They have a deep well pump and several others too. We have ordered, their service is good and have great prices IMO.
