Bin Laden, Done That

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

It has been in the news that Bin Laden is working on another terrorist act aimed at Americans. The time frame is not clear. Whether this will be a bomb or chemical attack, on home soil or overseas (embassies) no one seems to know. If "intelligence" has gathered this much, how could they not know the rest?

They have gathered "that much". They can't tell us any more than what they have for fear of tipping off Bin Laden. The very fact that you've heard news about now is warning enough. Bin Laden has been planning attacks on U.S. soil for years now. I myself have predicted that there will be a major terrorist strike on or near New Years Eve. It would be perfect timing, as everyone around here have been waiting all their lives to "party like it's 1999". Like I said, if it's in the news, that should be fair warning. I'm sure the FBI knows more but it would be idiocy to broadcast their intelligence on the six o'clock news. Look what happened when they were reporting the bombings in Kosovo. The stupid news people were all but calling the Serbs up by telephone and telling where and when the attacks were coming.

I believe that an attack to take advantage of Y2K would be better deployed prior to the rollover. Government and industry has made it clear they will be out in force to hamper any problems at that date. If attacked prior to the rollover, additional man power won't be in place and scrambling to finish remediations will be at an all time high. New Year's Evil will do the *finish work* for them. Just a thought. If they wait until after, they run the risk of being caught up in their own problems, as a result of failed remediations.

Didn't Bin Laden just marry Saddam a few months back? Hate to think what kind of a dowry we are going to pay now
