Vast Majority?

Enron's PGE says that it "is aiming to have the vast majority of 'mission critical' systems Year 2000 ready by the end of June. " (PGE Customer News)

If I recall correctly it was:

  1. No problem.
  2. We are confident we will be done.
  3. We will have our mission critical systems done.
  4. We will have the vast majority of our mission critical systems done.
Doesn't this reveal a trend? I don't think that PGE is alone on this one.

Reporter,

Good one, you nailed it. That's the trend all right. Scary isn't it? Maybe you could even add a 5. We will have the vast majority of our now reduced number of mission critical systems done. They do keep reducing the defined MC systems. Then as a side note, it can be mentioned that when audited, they don't have really great reasons for why they define a system as MC or non-MC, other than to say "Well we thought it was mission critical last year, but now we don't." Great.
