BataBING! BataBOOM! Something NEAT this way comes!greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) Forum Moderators : One Thread |
Fellow MOD's( I'll forgo the Mike Myersisms because they don't work in print), some of us have put together a proposal for the morphing of the forum and would like some input from the rest of the group.
Essentially, the proposed new structure looks like this:
1) A gateway website, with links and references to the resulting fora.
2) A NEW forum, PROBABLY caled TB2KPREP which will be heavily monitored and policed, with the emphasis on preparations, as in HOW TO... and WHAT TO...
3) TB2K Classic, or the existing forum.
There is expected to be a LOT of moderation and control on the prep forum, with the Classic forum being lightly moderated, more or less as it is now. Brian's excellent archives will be available to both fora, and specifically prep posts on the Classic forum will be cross-posted on the TB2KPREP forum, as it is envisioned now.
Prototyping is being done, even as I post. We should have SOMETHING to look at soon. Now would be a good time for anyone with concerns to make 'em known, so we can include them in the product, and make no mistake, it WILL be a product.
The goal we have (always mutable and NOT a deadline, but we're trying for it anyway) is to roll out the changes for the Holiday (July 4).Comments? Post 'em here or e-mail me, Diane, BigDog, or Arlin if you feel the need for more personal attention (can't guarantee that e-mail will be more effective than posting here, though).
blatant attempt to include in both views of the forumC

Yeah - well you were a "real" scribe you'd be able use a hammer and chisel to engrave these words in the screen. Typing is for weenie scribes (like me!)...

Looks fine to me as laid out here.Would the controlled site include links to useful threads in the existing archives? (OT/troll posts therein could be scrubbed, but that would require a separate "Prep" archive)

Chuck,This sounds great to me. It splts perfectly the emotional issues from the practical advice/information.
If you need assistance along the lines of banners, graphics, logo, etc. let me know. I'd love to offer more to this than just my point of view.

Looks good,How do we integrate the Regional Connect requests for discussion in with the new Prep Forum.
Has anyone started it yet?
Like... who's on first?

For the regional contacts it would be interesting to have "regions" as categories so folks can have the threads in some kind of order. Of course this brings the problem of the US and everyone else :o)

In terms of the Preparation Discussion Forum (Not Brian's Archives) but a place for newbies to post, we need the appropriate discussion catagories. See...What kind of Categories?
