olympus software

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I purchased an olympus 400 last week. After getting to know the camera I loaded the Camedia software . Since I already have U-lead photo software I just loaded the transfer stuff. All was well till it started to install the Quick stitch program. My laptop froze up and it appears that my video card got fryed. It was a Canon p-100 with 32 mg ram and had about 400 mg on the hd. Was wondering if my video card's time was up or that there is a possible problem with the software. thanks in advance.....tms

An an Electrical & Electronics Engineer, I have to say the software does not cause your graphics card to get "fryed" as you stated. The incompatibility issues are normally seen by a message or blank screen until reboot. Educated guess would be, if you have lost the graphics card, it failed due to other reasons that would have happened with or without this software installation.

Some Notebook PCs (I.E. some of Compaq product line) have a reset switch embedded into the body of notebook (usually located in the bottom). The power cycle does not function as a "system reset" in this case. Sometimes removing the battery and AC power (both) from the unit for 5-10 minutes have the same effect as system reset, just in case if your graphics card has not failed.
