Rotating JPEGs

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Is there a simple way (on Mac) to rotate a JPEG 90 degrees (so that portrait taken shots will appear upright) without opening the JPEG in some image editing software and recompressing it, (a process which deteriorates the image quality from the JPEG once again).

SIDENOTE: The Minolta 1500 EX has a nice feature that it detects when you have taken a portrait shot, so when you download the images to the computer, all images are upright. My coolpix 950 is too stupid in this respect, and I get all the images wide side

A shareware package called Cameraid lets you do this:

I believe the shareware program Polyview can rotate an image without any loss in quality.

You can find out more at www.polybytes.com
