Tom Carey: Are You Still Having Cookie Problems?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) Forum Moderators : One Thread

Tom,

How's it going?

For the record, when I entered this morning my "cookie" had expired too. Either MIT was tweeking the software--which seems to happen on weekends--or something was tweeked during the Saturday (etc.) FIX of the MIT air conditioning... that also "happened" to cause networking problems and computer restart problems of a "complex system." Uh huh.

Timely... after last weeks "Why Paul Milne is a Polly" thread, n'est pas?

cookie problems

No cookie problems on the Y2K forum. Just a glitch probably caused as Chuck noted by 'refresh'ing the wrong screen. All OK now.

But on this one I'm still dealing with this odd split-screen format, top screen listing all posts (replies to initial post indented), lower screen showing the last post selected. It's pretty awkward but it's still workable.

The odd thing is that when I [Reply] on any thread here I have to go thru the same song and dance that's required for starting a new thread: e-mail address, full name, subject. And "Notify Me of Responses" with "Yes" and "No" options. I'm still a stranger it seems.

Do not meddle in the affairs of computers, for they are subtle and full of malice.
