WHY I THINK c4i IS A DOOMER TROLL

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

This has been a fun day. I think we've been all had but it has been fun. No wonder the Pollys laugh at us sometimes, but they need to smile occasionally too. There are many reasons why "I" think this is a Troll, a very fun one though. c4i's exact time the power grid will be down is a perfect give-a-way. The power grid is way to complex for anyone or any group to tell us that certain areas of the country will be down for 2 or 3 weeks and another area will be down for 2 or 4 weeks. We've all been on this forum long enough to know no one has a crystal ball on that one.

Answers

Lets hear it from all of you out there. We have had fun today, no doubt about that.

-- thinkIcan (thinkIcan@make.it), June 10, 1999.

C4i is a polly troll posing as a doomer troll--i.e., he or she is a double troll. (A dooly? A polymer?)

-- Old Git (anon@spamproblems.com), June 10, 1999.

Way to go Old Grit-----As soon as we can establish c4i as a "plus" or "minus" troll we'll all be able to get on with it.

-- thinkIcan (thinkIcan@make.it), June 10, 1999.

A Polly Cracker Upper, as far as I'm concerned. Degreed by the PCU institute.

-- Gordon (gpconnolly@aol.com), June 10, 1999.

I guess we'll see who was right January 1, 2000.

-- (workathome@atl.ga), June 10, 1999.

Wait! I think I finally have the picture!

The writing style discrepancies of c4i's posts on the other two threads (non-link impaired people may wish to post links here) are due to the fact that c4i is two different people! One posts, while the other sweeps up!

(I have this vision of guys holding brooms. . .)

Am I wrong?

:)

-- FM (vidprof@aol.com), June 10, 1999.

Come to the Forum and what do I see?

c4i playing with thee.

Forum focus has shifted,

Concerns temporarily lifted,

Wonder if she charges a fee?

-- (sonofdust@net.com), June 10, 1999.

And the beat goes on.

-- thinkIcan (thinkIcan@make.it), June 10, 1999.

No one has dis-credited c4i at this forum so far. What he has posted is just as plausible as any 'bad' y2k scenario. I will add his threads (2) to my analysis of how and what could happen.....and continue to prepare.

-- Analytical to the extreme (One@yearwatching.com), June 10, 1999.

Don't forget to screw in light bulbs into empty sockets so that the electric does't fall on the floor.Tape aluminum foil over the outlets.

-- treading litely (rs@marketwatch.com), June 10, 1999.

No one has dis-credited c4i at this forum so far.

He's discredited when he uses two different screen names. c4i and c41. That's not a typo--that's two different writers and neither offer an explanation when busted? C'mon. You want to believe him because the scenario is plausible and seems to come from an "authority". Well, it could be deadly accurate, but it didn't come from an authority.

-- Dog Gone (layinglow@rollover.now), June 10, 1999.

Hey, c4i, my email address is real too! AND I am a former reporter. (Still have my White House Press Credentials) I keep neutral on this forum, but I have a few media contacts.

Wanna email me too?

If so, better do it quick. I'm on a plane tomorrow.

Can someone please tell ME what the hell is going on here?

-- (workathome@atl.ga), June 10, 1999.

calling Tom Clancy....... totally fascinating - the original post had that novel flavor to it...just enough of the real stuff mixed in with imagination - sells lots and lots of copies.

I enjoyed this trilogy post sooooo much - that I made my {polly} husband read it. It didn't change his mind - in fact, he said that it doesn't take a brain child to come up with all that data - and sound like an intellectual spook....

according to him, 30 minutes of research and he could probably produce something equal or better. sigh. I tried to make him put his money where his mouth was - but he doesn't see any sense in it.

c4i - one polly and one doomer unchanged by your efforts - but definitly entertained for a couple of hours.

Still waitin' for your email, c4i.

'Gonna send it?

:)

-- FM (vidprof@aol.com), June 10, 1999.

p.s. Mr. c4i (yes - has to be a him - her would not make this big of boo-boo)

you really need to research the 72 hour thing and who that applies to and when. Cuz your information is all wrong in this arena - and definitly casts aspersions on the rest of that line of thinking.

this i know for a fact!!!!

justme

-- justme (finally@home.com), June 10, 1999.

Justme,

Are you referring to the USAF Prime BEEF teams that are in the 28hr window?

-- c4i (c4ixxx@hotmail.com), June 10, 1999.

Hey c4i...I am not so sure that u are a troll...and feel free to e- mail me...I have already sent mail to the hot mail adress that u gave...would really appreciate an answer.

-- Mary (timmary0@airmail.net), June 10, 1999.

no - actually referring you to mixing up reserves and ng. Only one of those groups participated in the semi-national test you referred to - and the test had very little to do with anything other than to exercice a calling tree. No single solitary troop put on boots and reported anywhere - just a commo check.

it would take much more than a calling tree to activate 100% plus.

I know this - and I am nobody special. You don't have a grasp - and claim to be a DOD somebody. what is wrong with this picture?

-- justme (finally@home.com), June 10, 1999.

rs@ - Shouldn't that be - treading lightly?

P.S. thanks for noticing mine or Cook's, I like your description better than mine.

FM ----- Help me out here. What about this e-mail. Help me. I need to get a life but I can't get off this thread.!!!!

-- thinkIcan (thinkIcan@make.it), June 10, 1999.

Think I can,

I know--it's a fascinating thread.

(As are the two other threads related to this, and hopefully--someone will post a "hotlink" for the benefit of those who came late to this weird day at the "Yourdonite forum."

Here's the deal:

The email I received from our mysterious c4i leads me to believe that a story may break in the media regarding his claims.

I will not identify the publication, because I don't want to drive traffic to it, in the event this is completely bogus.

I am waiting to hear from him.

I'll keep you posted. Keep in mind, however, I'm on a short trip tomorrow--so I may need others to keep ME posted. . .

:)

-- FM (vidprof@aol.com), June 10, 1999.

Look, something's up, but still needs to be verified. Obviously c4i is toying with us and having fun too. Not a normal troll and not chumming exactly either.

Ashton & I got a rather spooky 100% verified eMail that was not and could not be anything but 'for real.' The motivation seems to be helpfulness, but the initiator person will not reply.

There is more to this than meets the eye. Read the first thread carefully. There is legitimate sobering truth there. There's more posts than the first one which are spot-on.

Actually the first one is narrow and not Doomer. It is more Middling.

-- thinkIcan (thinkIcan@make.it), June 10, 1999.

The eMail we received was tooooooo spookily factual and eerily prescient. It came before today. Too 'coincidental' to be coincidence. We're waiting and watching and prepping with the little stuff. It's a small small world after all out there.

Hey, nobody said the end game would be boring. Front row seats to the trip wire ...

yawn - just put a fresh pot of coffee on.

-- justme (finally@home.com), June 10, 1999.

Gang, I HAVE to get some sleep, (trip tomorrow) so I'm gonna exit this thread.

I still haven't heard back from the mysterious c4i, (since the original email I received) but my gut feeling is that if this guy/guys are legitimate, we're gonna read something about it in the media soon.

Email me if you're the first one to catch the article. I have a feeling it will quote "sources who do not wish to be identified."

Since I don't know a thing about publication dates, by the time such an article comes out (if, indeed at all) this thread might have been consigned to the compost heap.

We'll see. . .

:)

-- FM (vidprof@aol.com), June 10, 1999.

I guess that this means that we can keep each other company tonight...LOL

-- Mary (timmary0@airmail.net), June 10, 1999.

All I can say is that these time are sent to try man's soul. I won't do any speculating and I'll probably be up late tonight but only because I'm a caffeine junkie. However, if c4i is legitimately trying to raise public concerns over an issue that cannot be closer to home then much kudos for him/her/them. If it's an assinine attempt at brevity from some other forum (I still have yet to see anyone take credit) then it will be forgotten in a day or two. If not, well... we hurry and wait.

-- (workathome@atl.ga), June 10, 1999.

hurry up and wait, rather

Did anyone ever see that episode of M*A*S*H where they were all passing around a murder mystery novel one chapter at a time? This reminds me of that!

no Ma'am - I can't answer your questions - can't answer my questions either. You have received two emails from c4i - which is two more than the rest of us were privy to. Hoping you would share/shed a little lite.

c4i- I've been watching since this afternoon to see what you had to say. If there are things you can't post here, I'm sure the few of us around now would welcome an e-mail. I have no questions as such. I'm just very interested.

-- thinkIcan (thinkIcan@make.it), June 11, 1999.

Know what? Isn't there a movie coming out this fall about Y2K? Haven't heard any talk about it lately. I wonder if c4i's posts are an initial promo for the movie, guage what folks who are Y2K aware would think of it. Certainly got a reaction didn't he(they)?

-- lilsparky (star@dmcom.net), June 11, 1999.

More evidence that this was a Troll. Thomas Barnett, Director, Year 2000 International Security Dimentions Project, US Naval War College. His quote on c4i "This is one of the worst spoofs I have ever seen"

-- thinkIcan (thinkIcan@make.it), June 11, 1999.

No consensus as yet on c4i -- but then there's hardly a consensus on anything here. IMO there's more than meets the eye in what he says and where he's coming from, but that's true of icebergs too.

Words to struggle with:

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn: "If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?"

Bertrand Russell: "I wish to propose for the reader's favourable consideration a doctrine which may, I fear, appear wildly paradoxical and subversive. The doctrine in question is this: that it is undesirable to believe a proposition when there is no ground whatever for supposing it true."

Otto Neurath" "We are like sailors who have to rebuild their ship on the open sea, without ever being able to dismantle it in dry- dock and reconstruct it from the best components."

Ludwig Wittgenstein: "Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent."

J.L. Austin: "Fact is richer than diction."

Learn to love uncertainty...

I have donned the Stainless Steel Hat of Hatonn, and have attached the Aluminum Foil Antennae of Antares, but still cannot divine the purpose of this latest interruption in the Universal Continuum.

There are those in the InterGalactic Fleet who contend that this c4 person is a rebel from the Quark Zone On The Other Side Of The Wormhole, but we don't have any valid intelligence on that as of yet.

The Yourdonizer has not detected any alien activity as of yet.

Nor has the National Enquirer (our best source of information).

We will attempt to keep you posted.

Chichen Little ---- And the fun begins on another day. Great to hear from you, LOL, and I agree with every word of it

lol Chicken Little...

"Quark Zone On The Other Side Of The Wormhole"

Our science hasn't proven the existance of either a quark or a wormhole...let alone whether or not a wormhole has "sides"... so you are obviously an intergalactic troll here to share new and impressive insight and technology in an effort to save us from ourselves...

or are you Doctor Evil back to do battle against Autsin Powers!!!???

either way... pack your bags baby... it's TEOTWAWKI...

-- Michael Taylor (mtdesign3@aol.com), June 11, 1999.

None of us have figured this out yet. I would like to point out that in my opinion "Diane" is a very level headed individual and has been on this forum forever. She hasn't got this figured out either, quote, "I suspect c4i is more than a common "troll". Something "strange" this way comes." If c4i is for real and c4i statement of "the Northeast will experience 3-4 weeks outages" meaning power, then we are TOAST and the SH*T really will hit the fan. A prediction like this means that Paul Milne has hit dead center in the middle of the bullseye from an amazing distance of about "two years". By the way Diane just what did you mean by "something "strange" this way comes". Always enjoyed what you have shared.

-- thinkIcan (thinkIcan@make.it), June 11, 1999.

Just trying to figure it out, thinkIcan.

I put a post into the "Weak link" thread. I'm convinced that we've got a good try at spinning all of us. The first post was pretty good. But since then C4I's gone downhill. My guess is that the Biffy's or the Debonkers really worked hard to try and perfect this shot at us. But they got too greedy and came back to the well too many times, which is what gave them away to me.
