White lines in 8X10 print??

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Does anyone have this same problem? About one out of every 50 prints comes out with two very narrow white lines horizontally across the print. They are about one thirty-second of an inch wide and they occur about one third (the first line) and two thirds (the second line) down the page. They are perpendicular to the travel direction of the print head.

The pic file size is 1.4 mb when downloaded from my Nikon CP900. I am printing out of Photo Deluxe onto an HP PhotoSmart printer. In Photo Deluxe, I increase the print size to 8"X10" with Proportion maintained. The print preview looks perfect. I then print on HP Glossy Photo Paper and once in a great while I get the two white lines.

I have printed the same pics before with excellent results. What could cause this?

I use the Adobe Photo Deluxe and HP Photosmart printer quite frequently with different picture sizes including 8x10. I have never had your problem. I wonder if you have a bad printer or printer cartridge/cartridges. I have tried this task with a few different model of HP printers, and never had the problem you are having. I would change the printer cartridges first, calibrate the new cartridges, check if it does make any difference. if not my guess is your printer requires service. Good luck.
