SONOMA VALLEY SENDS IN A REPORT

Dear Folks --

Here's an update on the status of our group meetings. The meeting on the 29th of May was very small (about a dozen people); nevertheless, the consensus was that we should continue to meet once a month. Although the Y2K issue seems to have receded from the public's and the media's attention screen, it's not hard to realize that the underlying issues have not gone away. Those who have been following some of Tom Atlee's and Robert Theobald's postings on the Internet, as well as reading the recent book JUST IN CASE, will know that excellent work is still being done by many activists in all parts of the country and the world, to heighten awareness of the fragility of our economy/ecology and the need for community consciousness-raising. In that spirit, we agreed that we should continue to meet, lessening the informality to the extent that we'll focus each session on one major aspect of the Y2K (Emergencies) situation; though the meetings need not be limited to that topic; and they are subject to change, considering current developments. Since both Charlie and I will be away much of June, there won't be a meeting in June. The next three meetings are as follows:

Saturday, July 24th, 1:00 to 3:00 pm (note this was changed from July 10th); Topic: WATER - SOURCES, STORAGE, PURIFICATION.

Saturday, August 21st, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm (note different time than usual); Topic: POWER, ALTERNATIVE ENERGY, ETC.

Saturday, Sept 18th, 3:00 to 5:00 pm (note different time); Topic: FOOD -- SUPPLIES, STORAGE, ETC.

Keep the faith Ralph Metzner
