Given that we have some stuff to try to get put together fairly soon, it might be time for a "Chat" via AOL Instant Messenger.
Subject: Concrete recommendations for the direction of the Forum, with a timeline for implementation.

Rationale: We had hoped for enough time to allow the forum to "morph" over time to something new, which at THIS time has not been defined in an implementable way. As I said in a post which I will include below, the people (i use the term advisadely) who want to see the forum fold are much more active than we had hoped/expected them to be. Scheduling and logistics: If you do not have Instant Messenger Software, contact Russ at Bigdog@duffer.com and he'll work this out with you. I would like to do this some evening after 2300 EDT (11:00 PM EDT) this week. Preferrably Friday night, as I can't guarantee my own availability around that time any other night, and may be late on Friday, given the exigencies of my so called job.

The goal of the Chat would be to come up with a reasonable consensus on what we can do for the forum, and have some (a) concrete recommendation(s) for Diane when she gets back. Developing these (this) recommendation(s) and implementing whtever we decide on will hopefully let us retrieve the initiative so WE can shape the debate on the board which is something we need to do.


I'm going to ask (beg, grovel) Russ to set this up, hopefully at 1100 PM (2300) on Friday. If not, then he gets to tell me the mechanics (I suspect even I can do this from my limited reading). Please see to it that if you ARE interested in participating, BOTH Russ and I have an e-mail from you indicating your Instant Messaging handle so one of us can invite you to the chat.

Y'all remember you were invited to volunteer, and y'all did, well the the volunteer bill is about to be tendered. If this doesn't look like it will work, we can try the flurry of e-mail approach, and we may well do this after the Chat.
