What was Skip Goebbel saying on Ozark News?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

KY3 last night (Springfield, Missouri) did a piece featuring Skip Goebbel of Sensible Steam. While they did talk about steam generators and how he has developed a thriving business building said generators, the really interesting piece of info was his assertion that he has big shot customers from all walks of life, i.e. nuclear energy, wall street, etc. He said, in essence, the same people who are saying "don't worry" are coming in his back door. By the way, he also stated that he can't take any more orders for completion by Jan. 1, 2000.

How long was the piece? Was my contribution "left on the cutting room floor", or did they take a sound bite from it?

JAMES:

Skip said the same thing to me when I stopped over in Branson a year ago, on my way to emigrating to the South (TN first stop, now in AL.) The reason for my stop? --- picked up my copy of his steam boiler cum engine -- the only reason I got it was because I prepaid half of it months before. He was already covered up with orders by last July.

Skip is a VERY SMART BOY, and one of my favorite people.

Of course the Pollys will consider this story part of Urban Myth, 'cause we all know our government guys, corporate PR guys, & corporate CEO guys speak the whole truth, nothing but the truth --- right from the top (where he lives in the House That By Now Has Turned a Slighter Shade Of Pale.)

Long Live Establishment Regard For The Truth In Public Statements! Long Live The King, err The Prez!

Keep asking those kinds of questions, James --- you'll learn some important things.

---- Bill Schenker, that wacko y2k guy.

James,

As my husband Steve pointed out, we (and another student) were also interviewed by KY3 news last evening as we were taking a 3 day steam class being taught by Skip. Since we were traveling back to Texas by the time the show aired we don't know how it ended up. But that isn't really the point. I was just a few feet away from Skip during the shooting of his comments and I can vouch for his consistency.

Last fall when Skip was at our place, I happened to ask him who his customers were. He told me then exactly what he told the news reporter yesterday. Not that I needed a lot of convincing that Y2K is going to be problem (living with Steve has seen to that), but if there was ever a doubt in my mind, it was Skip's customer list that confirmed it for me.

I too would like to vouch for Skip's character. In our dealings with him over the last year and half or so, he has also impressed me as being very smart, honest, frugal with his own life and generous with others. And yes, he is very busy, working 18 hour days for the last six months.
