Negative Scanners

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I was looking at the HP PhotoSmart at Frye's the other day and noticed a new negative/transparency scanner by Artiscan... for about half the price, yet with better resolution... Although it looked like yet another parallel port device to overload my system, a negative only scanner has a lot of appeal for archiving all my old negatives to CD. The price tag is attractive, but I'm also looking at a digital camera/VCR that will night shoot for my daughters softball games.

HAS ANYBODY BOUGHT AND TRIED THIS MODEL???

FYI -

I tried out the new photosmart s-20. Easy USB hookup w/no problem.

Excellent scans. Only problem was that it was very very slow on full resolution(2400dpi) scans. I gave it back. But if speed isnt an issue, I'd consider it
