Differences between PDR-M3 and MX-600Z

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I just ordered a Fuji MX-600Z based on a) I could buy it for $432 and b) Fuji has a free FlashPath offer good through July 31. Plus, it appeared to be essentially identical to the Toshiba PDR-M3.

Would like to know if these are functionally identical or if perhaps there are perhaps subtle differences in the internal mechanics, specs, camera software, etc.

Also, thanks to all the previous contributors to this forum -- a little reading here helped me greatly in making the decision to move up from my original Epson PhotoPC to this "intermediate" class of PDR-M3/MX-600Z.

I am still amazed that you can get so much at this price point in these two cameras. Perhaps someone knows if there are (or will be) other OEM's of this basic box.

They are the same camera, except the Toshiba includes a 8MB Smart Media card while the Fuji only includes 4MB. The software bundle is also different between the two. Buy on price. I have been using the Fuji MX600Zoom for a couple of months now. It is a great camera for the money. The only drawbacks that I could find would be the rather slow processing time and slow lense (3.8). Picture quality is great (even when printing), battery life is exceptional and many great features for the money. Good Luck!!!
