I'm putting this here because it looks kind of like the type of check we may need occasionally. I haven't decided to post the rest of it or to post it on the Board.

hello, folks. it has in many ways been encouraging to see numerous y2k dialogues occuring via the civicprep mechanism. i'd like to make clear, however, that my original posting regarding John Koskinen was really intended to be a one-shot observation based upon personal insights and interaction with the man while producing our y2k documentary; and i was quite frankly honored to have my two cents posted, at all. there were no plans to write even a single follow-up and certainly no anticipation of the responses, rebounds and echoes that the initial observation would catalyze. i must say that it's been somewhat of a learning experience, perhaps in chaos Theory, to watch the principle of 'sensitive dependence on initial conditions' take effect after dropping a pebble into the civicprep pond, only to witness the resultant waves develop, rebound, collide, and create a myriad of interference patterns all within a few days.

as such, despite rather kind words by Suzanne Taylor, Danielle LaPorte, Seth Carmichael, Gary Gach, Mick Winter, Steve Davis, Tom O, David Goldberg and others, my inclination at this point is to not enter much further into what ironically seems to be a bit of an internecine battlezone among well-meaning people who are in fact basically on the same side of a larger war against a greater challenge. [emph mine cr] and honestly, after just sitting back and watching some of the contrapuntal perspectives that have occured back and forth over the last several days, the situation has become a bit disheartening, not because each point of view hasn't been valid, but because time is indeed running out regarding configuration and implemetation of a Feasible nationwide plan, and such polarizing energy may yield a virtual stasis or even be detrimental to one of the central missions relative to y2k, which is to help as many individuals and communities as can be reached to prepare for whatever may occur. big government won't need to throw a warm, distracting blanket over public awareness if those who are indeed Aware, in the end, prove unable to get beyond abstract, philosophical postulations whereby whatever pragmatic objectives could have been achieved become less and less realizable. very simply, if entities who are possibly among the vanguard of awareness and concern about y2k-related effects cannot coalesce very soon around a realistically-implementable common approach, how can one hope the general population will get its act together in the three months remaining before 9/9/99, or even by 1/1/00?
