Whats up with the doomers? (Humor really)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Ever since their fearless leader left the scene, they seem to be running around the nest as if someone just sprayed insecticide. They are becoming increasingly paranoid about the pollys so-called cue. What could the pollys do in cyberspace? Disconnect the web server? This makes them extremely nervous. How could they possibly prepare when they cant discuss stocking up on match sticks. So their attack on the pollys grow. They see the pollys as a threat to their very existence (and of course their families) As a result they must stamp out every polly posting on this forum, just like the devil.

Cant we just all get along?

Maria

In a previous post of mine you used language that didn't fit with my text. Not good form. Now we know you have more preps than the average 99.9 percent of the population it would seem you are comfortable in your life.

It is the polly assumption that I am OK so there is no problem. Where is the heart. I do agree about the rip off artists and the alarmists often have less than good intentions. It still doesn't help the real problem.

Using water as an example, the chances of most folks water failing is small, precentage wise, yet the failure will mean personal TEOTWAWKI. There is no way for folks to understand the problem unless they research. To research they have to understand that there is a problem in the first place.

Personally I don't find you so bad. BKS you are not :o) But the risks are there and there is a lack of information. Polly types should say the problems can be fixed, not that they are being fixed. We will not really know that till the rollover. Untill then we have to look at relevant information and make informed decisions.

You mentioned in another post that you know more about the Y2K situation. That maybe true but I have been reading the GAO reports for the last year and any other material I can dig up in Canada and the States. The problem is real. What is so hard to understand about that?

If you want quotes, links from the government and industry sites, I have them. Glad to share :o)

By the way Nature is my leader. Feel the force Maria *VBG*

I'm more than willing to get along Maria.

Are you?

Really?

Why don't you just go ahead and "contribute" your good news. That's fine. Also, please EXPECT that people will doubt it for awhile and do the homework and research on it.

If what you post stands the "testing" phase, then we'll consider the information "Y2K compliant."

Okay?

AND STOP PICKING ON ME!!!

Agreed?

And I'll be "nicer" too, and won't call you clueless again.

Ok?

Diane

Maria

I was reading your post on the satelites, and you are smarter than one would first guess.

So to use that brain productively I would like to know your opinion on the Iridium constelation and global communications. Will this technology help the countries that are impacted because of their Telcoms having failed? Is it fully operational and for business or only for Government orgs?

Thank you for any comments on this matter.

Diane, Maria - I think that the only way to settle this on-going fued is to bare down and get muddy. Yep: the Yourdon Mudwrestling Pit. Good luck to the both of you, and let your hostilities and aggressions be satisfied, while your inhibitions be thrown to the wind.

Hey folks I have an idea regarding "polly" posts. Ignore them. Don't respond, don't rise to the bait. Soon their fun will be gone and so will they. Trust me. Try it.
