Hey Tom, I haven't bought one yet, but I been thinking real hard on the Olympus C2000. They got a new one coming out soon, the C2500 with 2.5 megapixels...ddecisions, decisions...

You might want to check out the Toshiba line as well.

After considerable research and talking with reps from Nikon and Olympus, and trying out both of their top cameras, I selected the Olympus C 2000 Z and am very pleased with it. It is also readily available while the Nikon is on backorder in most places. On the occasion of my visit, the local dealer who was having open-house had 2 Nikons and about 12 Oly's on hand so I could have bought either one that day. For my purposes - general hobby photos - sports, grandkids, scenery, etc. I thought the Oly to be easier to manipulate and more compact. With a Mac it was easier to download. Incidentally, I paid full list price (inspite of better deals on the internet) because my local dealer provided excellent service, and I want him to stay in

Based on the specifications, the Oly C2000-Z is the better 2+ MegaPixel Digicam.

There are four main things to consider in your decision to purchase a digital camera.

1. Optical pixels. Interpolated pixels are NOT cool. 2. Variable compression & NO compression (DON'T buy a Sony FD???) Never overcompress your images. It destroys them. 3. High grade, readily available storage media (flash card & PC card). PC cards are common & compact flash memory is becoming popular. 4. Optical zoom lens. Digital zooms are a RIP!
