Ok, ok, so this is a post card imitation. I still like it and had fun capturing this sunrise image. Thor's Hammer, Bryce Canyon N.P, 6x6 velvia.

Wow. The only thing that would make it better for me would be if the column were vertical rather than tilted a bit. Otherwise, I love it!

very nice. did you use a split ND filter?

Actually, it looks like a perspective correction thing. I'm assuming that you used a medium format camera, wide angle lens, and pointed the lens below horizontal.

If you took the shot with a tilt-shift lens or a camera with perspective correction capabilities you could have corrected the problem.

It is possible to do the correction digitally, of course.

Guess it's not a postcard shot for me since Thor's Hammer was previously unknown to me. You did an excellent job of capturing it as you did. Are camera positions limited such that the shot becomes possible only at certain times of the year? Well done!

I've never seen the postcard, but I like this shot, especially the light and position of the sun. Very nice. Donna

Larry, it's great, as always. The tilt doesn't bother me, in fact, I feel that it emphasizes the presence of the prominent elements. The horizon is not distorted, and that's the most important. Great job!

I like this photo very much, love the colors ... nice, nice shot.

Couldn't you have put a jeep on top it or something? Just kidding, this is a great shot, good composition, exposure and color. And to make things worse I was there last week and didn't see this photo.

Boy Larry, mom sure came through on this shot!! You didn't id the lense & my only objection is foreground focus - those rocks in the viewer's lower left. I'd probably crop 'em out & try for more detail from Thor. But I'd be proud to hang it just as it is. Fine job.

A strong image; the backlit flare effect is very dramatic. I don't know what focal lengths you had available, but I would have liked to see the image cropped more tightly on the upper right, assuming you had the longer lens to do it. The foreground is just not that interesting.

Also, the velvia thing: I love velvia for subdued landscape colors, water, forest green; but there's something about velvia and desert slickrock that just seems garish to me sometimes. It's not a landscape that seems to need color exaggeration.
