If you were planning to stock up on chocolate you may want to get the jump on it now, before the price goes up. It seems a fungus is killing a lot of coacoa trees.

Will trade pilot bread for chocolate.

Rick - Gilda and I have figured out it is not humanly possible to stock chocolate, except by internal consumption!

Oh no, not the chocolate! How can one store it besides buying the powder type in the can? Don't do much baking/cooking but sure love those snickers bars.

Why the heck can't you keep it in the freezer?

Hello?

Anyone?

Anyone at all?

Faris?

This is the most depressing news I have ever seen on this Forum. Only a shortage of Duct Tape could be worse.

Fungus? Hmmmm...it seems that most of South America is in deep Y2K doo-doo, but that's a new one! I think it's safe to say that there will be a lot more people killing each other over gasoline and coffee, but what the hell, think I will stock some more chocolate. Thanks.

Suddenly my 30 pounds of chocolate chips seems very very small. I guess I will buy more cocoa. I can live with brownies instead of chocolate chip cookies. :-)

(1) I've been wanting to get a cocoa tree planted on the mini-plantation so I can grow my own. Any idea of a source? Cocoa has been grown (in small quantities) on other Hawaiian islands.

(2) This could truly be TEOTWAWKI. Maybe worse. Call it AT LEAST a 10!

(3) Could it be an anti-drug plot...eliminating the source of cocaine?

Or could it be a new and sinister method of population control? Withhold chocolate until we become and weak and, and....uh,wait a minute. That won't work. What about those of us who become cranky and uncooperative without our Chocolate? Hmmm, could this be an even more sinister, as-yet-not-thought-of plot?
