Britelyte is out and promising nothing on deliveries. Who else sells the stove or something similar? Thanks for your help.

James:

If YOU send me real contact information and your bid ( privately ), we may be able to "burn" an original sealed-box ( from Britelyte ) deal!

There is nothing that can touch a match to the versatility, reliability and robustness of the Petromax stove.

Regards, Bob Mangus

James,

I got the same message with my petromax lantern. And I made that order more than a month ago. Let me know if you find an good source for the stoves.

Sincerely, Stan Faryna

James,

You might take a look at the MSR stoves in a good camping / backpacking store. They have a model that will burn Kero or white gas. It's not a big as the Petromax since it is made for sticking in a pack and going on down the trail. Very reliable and simple to repair, have used mine for years. But if I was in one place for a long time I would lean toward using the Pertomax since it has better flame control and a more stable base.

Highland Traders, a dealer of the Petromax products is not taking any more orders for the stoves as the manufacturer is currently not producing any more. But on the other hand, my supplier is currently working on a prototype for an attachment to the Petromax Lantern that will turn it into a cooking surface. It should be ready in about a month and will be considerably less expensive than the stove was and makes the Petromax that much more versatile. It used to have this attachment originally for the troops but was then turned into two separate appliances. Keep a lookout for this attachment. Diane/Highland Traders http://www.highlandtraders.com

>attachment to the Petromax >Lantern that will turn it into a cooking surface

Hummm, I don't know if having your light source under the cooking surface is very desirable. I would burn more meals than I do now. :-) That big Petromax lantern sure puts out the heat though.

Just a note, you CAN boil water in a cast iron skillet with an Alladin lamp (yeah I know, they are hard/impossible to find too) it just takes a good amount of time.

Wal-Mart still has tons (literally) of Coleman double burner stoves for either propane (and the adaptor pipe for a 20# bottle) or coleman/unleaded gas. They also sell a cheaper brand too.

If you can't get your first choice, #2 is a whole bunch better than nothing at all.
