I would suggest that you have a look at the manual that came with your printer. Most manuals list the different printing options and ink & paper supplies that your printer manufacturer sells or recommends for a particular model. You could also do a search for "photo paper" or something like that on the web. Perhaps, combine those search keywords with the printer manufacturer's name. For example, "epson photo paper" would probably be a good set of search keys for photo paper supplies for an Epson printer. You might narrow it further by searching for the specific model number of your printer, like "canon bjc-4450 photo paper."

As for prints printing in the middle of the page, you'll probably find some help in the manual for the image printing software you're using. You might also try the "Help" option on the menu and search for "position" or "placement" or just go through the help index and see what stands out. Chances are if you print just one image on a page most software will default to centering it on the page. You might be able to find a setting to change the default position or you may have to print more than one image on a page to get the software to make better use of the paper.

I would suggest to anyone that providing information about what model printer and printing software you're having problems with would probably get you a much more specific answer to questions of this nature. My crystal ball has a broken Framistat(tm) Etherial Flux Relay... :-) Seriously though, with more specific info the people that frequent this board can answer a wide range of imaging/printing questions. Probably due to unfortunate experiences being such a good teacher. :-)

What paper to use kind of depends on what you printer can handle. I just helped a friend last night who was try to print with glossy photo paper and it wouldn't feed into their printer. After some investigation we found their new xerox ink jet printer couldn't handle paper heavier than 24 lbs and the paper they were trying to use was 38lbs. Also printer resolution makes a difference. I had a Lexmark that did 320X320 resolution and photo paper didn't help much. I now have an Epson Photo 750 printer and Epson Photo paper works great in it. If you were to tell us what kind of printer you have we could be more specific in our suggestions. Also could you give more detail as to what the deal with stopping the prints in the middle of the page is?

I received a digital camera for father's day a few weeks back. I agree with the previous answers but recommend that you try the HP printer paper that sells for about 10.00 per pack. It is heavier and more white than the run of the mill generic printer paper and about twice as pricey. It is a good compromise to photo paper that goes for about 10.00 per sheet. When I am satisfied with the tweaking on the shot using the heavier stock, I print on the photo paper.
