Senate Hearing on Public Relations & Media on C-Span2

Just caught tail end of this hearing and noticed more shifting in government stance. Sen. Bennet picked up on one statement drilling home the position that "Y2K Could Be Serious and Worth Being Prepared For!" Anyone catch the whole hearing?

Witnesses testified about measures that communities, small businesses, and individuals had taken, or could take, to prepare for potential problems with computers on January 1, 2000. A panel of community leaders testified that the media had made preparations harder because their coverage focused on people who had taken extreme measures to prepare, making it hard for others to view the problem in a serious manner. A sceond panel of media representatives responded saying that without strong government leadership on the issue, and with conflicting information being presented by the government, it was impossible to present a clear mesage. Without a clear analysis of the problem, they argued, the public would either be complacent or would panic.
