I've read Alternative 3 and would like to say that it's one of the best pieces of science fiction I've ever read. UFO's. Aliens. Super-secret submarine summits under the Arctic icepack.

Woo hoo.

Am I missing an inside joke or something here? Is the title of the book "Alternative 3 + Y2K = Checkmate" or "Alternative 3"? Who is it written by? And why should anybody read the book? While "Read the book." probably sets a new record for the world's shortest book review, what it gains in brevity is loses in specifics.

You may have missed it. The book review was expanded to "Read the book, please."

However, I'm still not sure of the title and why the book is important.

Ken, the book is called "Alternative 3", I forget who the author is (British, I think). It's about conspiracy, UFO's, etc., but IMO is out on the fringe.

Far out.

Yeah I've got the book laying around somewhere (or I loaned it to somebody) goes into all sorts of stuff. Telepathic Think Jobs, Remote Viewing, Big Conspiracies and the three Alternatives to saving the Human Race from extinction (because of the way we are destroying our planet). Those three alternatives were: (I may be slightly off base because I'm doing this from memory)

1. Build huge underground cities where people can live for many years

2. Have a colony on Mars (Which according to the book they have had one for about 30 or so years)

3. The scariest one IMHO, put a big huge hole in the Ozone layer ....

The book was based upon the TV show they had in the UK back in the 1970's? It covered the TV show and went further. I've never seen the TV show, just read the book. Incidentally I found the book at a church fete amongst a whole bunch of books for sale, got it for around 1 Aussie buck.

simon consider this, apollo crafts old technology but took us to moon. space shuttle state of the art technology no moon trips. ????

how many times can you go round the earth without getting bored ?????

best position for space station, orbit a planet with a thousand other pieces of hardware or

fixed to a chunk of rock which provides more stability and flexability ????

when is common sense BS.

KLM forget about ufo,aliens

Consider, advanced human space technology needs a big cover story.

what better than little green men, a story that has been chased for years without success.

If you want to con a planet you need to make them look the other way for a very long time??????

PS JFK magic bullet. I think not. need I say more.

Agreed, Graham. Also, the UFO hoax is pretty near to paying off. As soon as they can cobble together a realistic-looking alien from a genetically engineered animal/person, they will spring the whole deal. Nothing like a little invasion from outer space to get a one-world governement started, is there?
