Fed spin is more disconcerting than before

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I now realize why I have felt a pessimism about y2k over the last week that is different than before: the higher ups seem to be converting from the "no problem" spin to the "it's the municipalities falt" spin. I'm sure I don't stand alone when I say how much this pisses me off. If I were in DC and it became Donner pass by late January, I know a couple of guys who would be on my menu.

Maybe they'll have a take out-menu? Seriously. No, I mean seriously!

Oh, I mean seriously, you've struck on something I've been thinking about too. I'm sure finger pointing isn't far off and the typical political CYA games are coming just in time for the elections. Hey, recently we've been neglecting to speculate on if there will even BE elections.

I wont rely on the Fed to do anything productive before TSHTF.

Ditto Dave/Michael- While I can understand the feds using local citizen anxiety to get local governments and businesses moving on Y2K readiness, (since they have limited leverage on those groups), I suspect they are just as happy to have any bad news delivered to the voters by someone other than a federal employee...

1. right-wing Christain fundamentalists creating a self-fufilling prophecy 2. The International communities had better get it in gear 3. warning...warning...cyber-terrorism 4. We're ok, but you little guys have us really concerned 5. (please hum the theme from The Twilight Zone) Yikes...don't look now, but there's something in outer space...duck and cover!

Anybody who has children can relate to this level of finger pointing! What's next, the dog did it?
