Ed, Is There Anything We Can Do For You?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Ed,

Took the day off from Y2K and Leska had to phone me to sound the alert.

My heart is heavy and I don't have many words to say right now.

Whatever I can do to help you, or the forum, or whatever anyone else can do, please let us know.

We're (most of us) with you.

With tears... and understanding.

Love,

Diane

Answers

The forum will continue to live, and the threads and messages should be able to be posted without any changes.

I hope that we'll be able to make an announcement of the new forum sysop/moderator in the next day or so.

I'm dropping off the radar screen, but Y2K has not gone away -- nor have most of the forum participants. I wish all of you the very best!

Sincerely, Ed

Ed:

I have no idea what you've gone through, or been through, but I know what anyone else who's back is against the wall is going through. I repect you for your accomplishments, but as a wise old indian once said "We must endeavour to persevere" If there is nothing left to be said, so be it. Thank you for your iniative. But know that there are those that still need this forum. I hazzard to guess many more than we know.

I sincerely hope you change your mind or at least let another use the archive threads. So many have contributed so much valuable information, it would truly be a waste to lose it.

I hope you and your family find happiness and fellowship.

Peace be with you, my brother

Now is the time for all .... to come to the aid of their country!

Dear Mr. Yourdon,

I only GI last December when my daughter gave me a year's subscription to the internet for Christmas. Yours was one of the first site's I "stumbled across". I will be forever grateful that you were there. I lived through the depression and WWII rationing but I sincerely believe that was "a walk in the park" compared to what is ahead.

Your forum has helped me prepare, not for myself but for my two grandchildren who live near me. We are in a rural area but still too close to the Metroplex. However, we can garden and probably barter with our neighbors for food.

Thanks for being there when you were needed so much. All my best to you and your family. Gratefully yours, Nadine

Look --

Ed has sold his millions of dollars' worth of books...he's set for life, if he invests wisely.

He doesn't need this crap any more. Cry your tears, but he doesn't need them....nor would I, were I in his position.

He made his Senate speech. Then he gave a good listening to Sen. Bennett et. al. behind closed doors, wherein it was said that they don't need any more fear-mongering.

So Ed cut his losses. Good boy.

Don't cry for Ed. Cry for yourselves.

CL,

I suggest you don't ass-u-me. Not wise.

Are you leaving now?

Diane

To All The PollyWogs:

Ed's retirement as First and Last of the Decent ForeWarners comes as a shock to those of us who benefitted immeasurably from his writings and speeches. We have been enriched physically, emotionally, mentally, socially, spiritually by Ed and this Forum.

Not enriched by Dollars, mind you -- the craven false idol you and so many are obsessed with. This has nothing to do with money, except that Y2K will wipe out jobs and the economy, so preps are a physical insurance against times of need.

When a great man such as Ed decides to withdraw from the public melee, the stature of the majority is greatly diminished.

Although the Pollys cannot possibly fathom such things, they too should be weeping and mourning, for the bell has just tolled even more certainly for them too ...

i sure am going to miss ed's sensible comments on this whole mess. i will also miss the resources section of his site, as i used it a lot and recommended it to others. i don't blame him for getting tired, he has been beaten up on a lot. after meeting with the senators, i would have done a cost/benefit analysis, too, and come to about the same conclusion.

Ed is wise to waste no more time with the SINators.

-- dinosaur (dinosaur@williams-net.com), May 30, 1999.

I am still amazed at the number of people on this forum that obviously have not read Ed's book. I mean how much cheaper than free does it need to be? You can lead a horse to water....... Of course I'ld probably be more amazed if I knew which ones actually did, but just could not understand it.

CL - I really do pity you, and not merely because Y2K will catch you flat footed. Your problem is much much worse than that. Such a waste.
