First it was INVAR and now Ed. After the lack of problems from the April 1st rollover and the flood of positive reports from Govt. and corporations, I knew the doomsters would end up running to hide, as things were starting to get quite embarassing for them. Now that things are starting to wind down on the Y2K front, it looks like ED figures he's milked this cash cow for all it's worth. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out "Fast Eddie".

Hmm, okay I can understand why someone might want to reduce their involvement in federal/local y2k awareness after 3-4 years. But why the pulling of the links -- how difficult would it be to leave them on your website with a statement notifying visitors that the resources will not be updated? I am not polly and will not pass judgement but some might feel that a person taking such actions could be sanitizing their site in case the predictions do not come true.

Consider the posibility that Ed had the same talks with similar lawyers that PdeJ had ref Project Damocles. I'd try to divorce myself after that kind of talk, too.

For the short memoried or new:

Peter de Jager had a project going, totally anonymous list site of some type that had programmers telling him, with companies, with verification available, of non-actions, failures, failures to start, etc. His lawyers explained to him that this particular project would be a gold mine for attorneys for either side of the issue come about 2001 or 2002, and that he would then be spending his every waking moment in court, testifying as to the contents of the files. He stopped the project, scratched the files, over-wrote the whole disk with something (probably HEX 00 or HEX 40) so that what WAS there was unrecoverable.
