Who out there can create a new forum? Can Ed leave this one alone until it is replaced??/

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

any takers? What is wierd is that all the ones who are so pessimistic about Y2K are dropping out...anyone heard from INFOMAGIC, etc???/now Ed is leaving ...what does this mean? That Y2K will be catastrophic? or just a burp?

Rick,

It would appear that the forum will survive with another moderator, whom Ed has already gifted with the baton and banner.

Only time will tell whether this person (or group) will be able to help us carry the banner as we have.

Once more, in plain english Chuck, please. Are you stating EY has already made arrangements with someone to take over for him as moderator?

Thanks.

I certainly hope so Bingo!

Who needs a moderator? As long as Greenspun still has space on his server, why can't we just keep cruisin! It was always nice to get some feedback from Ed when he had some free time, but at this point it is much wiser for him to stand on the sidelines.

Glad to hear the forum will survive. I dont get something-DeJaeger flip flops,Victor Porlier(Sp)leaves,Ed retires-is it just burnout? We still have Gary North, Cory and Yardani being consistant yet updating themselves and us. Senator Bennett fives mised messages and now by the inch Koskinem subtly moves toward a prepare message. I have been at this a long time and understand an honest difference of opinion (not to be confused with disinformation) but I would love to hear what you think. Thanks. And Ed thanks-see you on the other side.

Ed said he knows the forum is "quite important to many people" and he's contacted someone about taking over as sysop/moderator.

There has also been a good amount of interest in a "closed" forum and some offers have been made.

It's beginning to look as if we can have both.

I have tried to E-mail both Greybear and Old Git and both messages have come back undeliverable. Old Git, could you please contact me. This is my real address. I have something important I would like to communicate with you about.

Let's just see what tomorrow brings.

Could all use a good night's sleep.

I'm from Missouri, so Show Me exactly where Ed said in his essay that he is shutting down this forum? Anybody? Post the quote. Are we so anxious for everything to be a cataclysmic event that we read things into articles that aren't actually there?

Gilda he just mentioned removing links and resources - some people jumped to conclusions.

Just in case this forum closes let us regroup at http://www.uneco.org and click on Y2K icon, we can if needed create a new forum or use the HAWAII Y2K FORUM right there.

By the way check further and explore the sight. The Big Island is probably the best place on earth to take refuge in. But yoiu must be fast.

Aloha
