See You On The Other Side

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Good a day as any to say: thanks for the ride folks. Time has come for me to fish or cut bait. Stay in Iceland for it, or head out to my (only roughly developed) mini-farm in Hawaii... In either case, I need my head clear. So I'm outta here. I've tried to be light-heade - I mean, light-hearted in my posts, but if you must know, I think the whole thing is coming down.

My final word for the Polly's (of you guys, the only 2 I like and respect are Decker and Flint): 1st rule of gun safety: the gun is loaded. Not "assume it is loaded" not "it could be loaded". It IS loaded. Application to y2k ? You do the math!

Hawaii ... Iceland. Hmmm, anybody remember Richie Havens's song:

Up on a tightwire
One side ice and one is fire
Up on a tighrope
One side's hate the other's hope

No I will not appear behind any other avatar, and, to save your typing finger's carpal tunnel syndrom I'll tell you in advance:

I won't let the door bang my ass on the way out!

Well mas tarde, amigos y amigas. It has been a blast, and I'll see you on the other side (I love that phrase!)

Hey Blue, Before you go, what was it that prompted you to bug out and also declare "I think the whole thing is coming down."

I'm with you, BH. Wish I were physically, I'd love to be in Hawaii! Would you drop me a line via Diane? Thanks.

Thanks Blue Himalayan. You and the other Gis have made a difference (good) in my life.

It is a great phrase: I'll see you on the other side.

Blue, Never mind. Just started catching up on the posts. Though I usually don't get involved in most debates, will sure miss the site.

BH:

What is this? A time to tank and bug out? It's not even Summer!

And who will fill the void of quoting Goethe?

I saw the date of Y2K; The grasshoppers went out to play; Though ants stockpiled hoard, The grasshoppers ignored; Then judgment came without delay.

In honor of the now departed:

Well, Well, Well, Who's that callin'? Well, Well, Well, Hold my hand. Well, Well, Well, Night is a-fallin', Spirit is a-movin' all over this land.

Lord told Noah, Build him an ark, Build it out of hickory bark. Old ark a-movin', and the water start to climb, God said fire, not a flood next time.

God said fire comin' judgement day, He said all mankind gonna pass away. Brothers and sisters don't you know? You're gonna reap just what you sow.

World's not waitin' for the Lord's command, Buildin' a fire that'll sweep the land. Thunder out of heaven, comin' Gabriel's call; And the sea's gonna boil and the sky's gonna fall.

Later Blue, on the other side. The gun is always loaded. I will remember that.

Take it easy Blue, and remember, Freedoms just another word for nothing left to lose.

Bye Blue,

Choose Hawaii... it's warmer and food grows all year around.

Peace & Blessings.

See You on the Other Side

O. Osbourne, L. Kilmister, Z. Wylde, 1995

Voices, a thousand, thousand voices
Whispering, the time has passed for choices
Golden days are passing over...
Bye BH, enjoyed your stuff.

Bluey, thanks for your input, plus the occasional cryptic spellcheck. I truly wish I had the bug-out options of Iceland or a Hawaiian farmlet. May the force be with you.

So long, BH. See ya when we break on through to the other side...

I still remember a response to one of your posts that started out: "Blue Kitty..." I laugh every time I think of it. Many thanks.. SYOTOS! Y2Dave

Hey Blue...

If you choose Hawaii, look us up. We've got some real good GI's here that really believe in the community approach.

This weekend joined a group to learn how to make a Samoan umu. (kinda like a hawaii luau). Unbelievable.

Hawaii... Iceland..? No choice.

See you when you get here.
