fat pouch on premier boys

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Maine Coon Cats : One Thread

All my MC boys have pouches, but my big boy has quite a hanging pouch. I'd really like to tone up his tummy, but situps don't work and tummy tuck is out of the question. It waddles when he moves.I thought about leaving at one of my friends cattery[small short haired maniac cats]and see if he'd run more, but I doubt it.He's as active as any of MC's,they all run all over house, when they're not resting.

We have the same problem with one of our alters.....he is just built that way. We were advised to make him a tall pole to climb up to strengthen his tummy muscles (not a cat tree with "steps" at different levels to sit on, but a straight up/down pole). We made one about 5'6" high for our cats and they will pull themselves up it. They love it but we still have a pouch on the "fat" cat!!
