I have a Tiffen enhancing filter that I find useful in limited circumstances. If you aren't careful, it can produce some really unnatural results. The most useful circumstances (for me) are shots at or near sunset, where the filter helps to render the clouds and sky with the same brilliance that you see with your own eye (without altering other areas), and desert scenes with dull lighting, where the filter helps bring out the rich earth tones. I have tried it for "fall colors" as some photographers suggest, but I found it too exaggerated for my tastes, turning white bark pink, etc. In spite of its limited applications, I have been happy with mine. Good luck!
