This is the Article of Faith of the Religion of Science.

Science assumes the superiority of its God over all other Gods, and the superiority of its priesthood over all of the intellectually unwashed. In all fairness, it would be more accurate to ascribe the name of Scientism to this religion, since true Science is far more humble and unassuming in the presence of the unknown.

Scientism's high priests proclaim themselves the disseminators of the arcana of their religion, FACTS. These facts, like all holy relics, are untouchable and, once collected, are shared freely among all adherents. The high art of the Scientistic is to assemble these FACTS into a statement of probability, known as a THEORY. This theory then must be proven worthy of belief and acceptance by a principle known as REPLICABILITY, so that the THEORY might become revelatory of a higher-order principle known as a LAW.

These LAWS, like all Gods, are employed in the service of the believers until they either fail, or are superseded by even Greater Gods/Laws.

These LAWS are the Theological Structure of Scientism. The High Priests (and Priestesses) intone them to the dim masses from their elevated intellectual pedestals. These holy incantations are delivered from on high, enshrouded with sarcasm and skepticism, thus rendering them irrefutable and sacrosanct.

The Holy Officers of Scientism are charged with their Secular Mission: to set the ignorant and misinformed straight; to correct any factual discrepancies anywhere and everywhere; to shed their cool, objective and rational light upon the hysterical and mindless; and to use the analytical power tools of denial, ridicule, disdain and contempt to demonstrate their superiority to the scientifically-challenged. If they see a flower of intuition blossoming wildly, they must immediately crush it before it propagates into a field of knowing.

The unforgiveable sin of Scientism? Being wrong. It's High Clergy must Know-It-All, and make clear to the uninformed that the way to cognoscenti approval is by head-nodding acquiescence.

When it comes to Y2K, the Intellectually-Elite Scientistics are rationally duty-bound to impose their superior understanding, again, and again, and again, and again...... until the lumpheads finally Get It. Science Forbid that the unchained masses be allowed to research, think, examine or conclude for themselves. No, no, no! They MUST BE SET STRAIGHT OR ALL HELL WILL BREAK LOOSE!

Guess religion is all in the angle of vision, wouldn'cha say?
