Is there something pissing you off right now? Are you frustrated about something and you feel your hands are tied.

did someone cut you off in traffic today?

fighting with the phone company?

fighting with your cat?

Vent here, my friends. It'll make me feel better.

Pamie - I'm sorry you didn't get those jobs. Keep trying - the best comes to those who wait.

Here's my bitch and moan for the day : I am the only one in my office and I am sick and tired of people/customers calling me and yelling and screaming at me and I'm sick of paging my bosses only to have them ignore me. What the hell is the point of a pager if you don't answer it??

My boss set up a meeting today with a dreaded salesman and now she has decided she can't make it and I have to go to it. I hate that. Truly. I want to kick something. We have even already decided to go with this guy's competition - so, he is going to be working his ass off to get me to choose him and, not only do I not have the authority to make such a decision, I already know that the person who does have the authority will not make it in his favor.

Dammit. It's in 10 minutes. I'll let y'all know how it goes.

Okay, so my little bitch-session is not as bad as the other two, but here goes anyway.

I'm at work. No big whoop. But if I hear that *goddamn* Cher song one more time, I will go absolutely nuts.

"Do you believe in life after love.." I dunno, but I believe in big Donkey-Kong style mallets smashing the radio into tiny tiny bits.

I'm sick & tired of fighting with AT&T
I'm sick & tired of having to go to stupid meetings that are never about anything I can understand or use
I'm sick & tired of telling people the same damn thing 1000 times and still have to repeat myself
I'm sick & tired of working with immature people
I'm sick & tired of Kid Rock
I'm sick & tired of doing the exact same damn thing every single damn day
I'm sick & tired of not getting paid well to do it.
I'm sick & tired of seeing people get paid more to do a shitty job at something I could do twice as well in half the time.
....but besides that I'm fine.

How's this? I totally forgot that it was my brother's birthday. No, it wasn't today. No, it wasn't yesterday either. It was Monday. Ooops!!!

So, I did what anyone else would do - I ran out to buy expensive guilt presents that I would not have bought if I had not forgotton his birthday. And then when he's all "it's okay that you forgot," and making me feel even worse that he's being so nice about it, I promise to dogsit for him for a day one weekend so he can go out all day with his wife. Not that I have a life, but the weekends are the only time I can actually enjoy my non-life.

I think my brother somehow made me forget. He hypnotized me or something. Well, ha, I'm one up on him. Tomorrow I am going out and buying one card for every occasion left in the year and giving it to him now so I can't forget. Hahahaha - you can't outwit me! Nope!

Here's what I hate more than anything in the world:

My college alumni magazine. It is uncanny how it arrives at exactly the wrong moment EVERY FREAKIN TIME. I'll be feeling a little bit of career woes and wondering if I'm too young for a mid-life crisis and whether having one in my later 20s means I'm going to die in my mid 50s, and -- don't get me started or I'll be here all day and then need to hide under my blankie.

And then, it arrives. And suddenly I sound like I'm watching David Copperfield in my living room because I'm saying out loud "how the hell did he do that?" every two minutes as I read what the people I went to school with are doing: The guy whose major accomplishment in college was making a bong out of a coffee maker is now a regional manager of a Fortune 500 company. The girl who moved into my roommates'bedroom the first weekend of her freshman year and never got dressed or went to class the entire year is now a professor somewhere, and the guy we all called Squiggy is practicing law, a profession where you doubtless need personal hygiene. And I'm glad I missed the "where are they now" cut once again, because I don't have a glamorous job.

Other than that, I hate when people don't return voicemails.

-- Anonymous, May 26, 1999

Sean - I totally agree. Cher needs to hang up the mike and take a break. she has to have a computer digitize her voice so she can hit the high notes for God's sake....what does that tell us??

how opportune. today is the worst day. i am going to bitch quickly. first, i am at college and i miss my two kitties, my rat, my dog and my pony. i am moving two weeks after i get out of school for the summer to a tiny apartment from the house i have lived in since i was six, because we can't afford to live there any more. i have a ton of work to do for my finals. and to top it off, my boyfriend that i have fallen in love with too fast and he with me just told me today that he thinks he is also still in love with his ex from back home. i quit smoking a little while ago and i just had a cig. that's how stressed i am. argh. thanks, pamie, for letting me bitch, i needed that... hope you are all having better days than i am...

-- Anonymous, May 26, 1999

Ky - hang in there. I know it's hard right now, but things happen for a reason. :)

I hate it when people don't return voicemails, pages and phone calls. that's annoying.

-- Anonymous, May 26, 1999

Brad, I am so with you. As a matter of fact, I try not to even read my alumni magazine these days. And I also don't read those horrid "20 most successful people under 30!" anymore about the high school dropouts who opened lawn maintenance businesses and now have the most successful land architecture, or whatever, firm in America. Or the computer geek who never came out of his bedroom and was a chronic masterbater, who, due to his timely stock-trading on the Internet, now owns a island off the coast of California. HATE!

Also, a friend told me today about this guy she knows who will retire at 34 with millions. I am 26 and may be able to retire when I am 94, with three or four dollars.

i am tired of getting assigned stupid tasks like "could you please number this huge stack of papers 1 to 1,000,000 and then put them in reverse alphabetical order and make sixteen sets of each reduced to 20%?" while self-serving execs sit in their office with their feet on the desk surfing porn sites and taking all the credit for my work.

i am sick and tired of other employees ordering pizza for their meetings and telling the delivery people to just come to the front desk and expecting me to just *know* who the heck ordered the damn pie! (our office is huge, takes up the whole floor)

i am sick and tired of 411 giving out the wrong number (ours) to people who ask for optometrists.. and then having these people call me up and asking for their glasses.. and then ARGUING with me when i tell they are mistaken and that we dont sell glasses!!! "but i was just there yesterday!" "you've got the wrong number, ma'am... we dont sell glasses" "are you sure? i was just there yesterday!"

whew! i feel better!

I'm sick and tired of being taken advantage of at work. Jesus, do these people not understand that I have my own work to do that has more relevance (in my mind) than their petty shiat. It's so damn frustrating. I feel like killing someone, it's been an exhausting day, last in production for the month, and my publisher decides that he's going to become "managing editor" of my magazine, after my contract says that I have 100% control over the thing. ARGH! I know he'll change his mind as soon as I tell him I won't be anyone's minion on the project that I created, but it just pisses me off that he'd take it upon himself to decide that.

ARGHCK! And this other woman I've been doing consulting work for decided to run into the office last night at 8PM to announce that I had to redo a 20 page brochure for this morning. When I finally stopped laughing at her, tears were in my eyes. She made me feel like shit because SHE didn't get her crappy work done on time. ARGHICK!

And, to top it all off, when I pulled my monthly all nighter at work last evening, a bird flew in through the roof and swooped around the office, scaring the shit out of me and sending me into hiding, after which I was locked outside for 45 minutes.

Yeesh.. thanks for the forum, Pamie!

On a more positive note, I really like that khaki-a-go-go ad for The Gap.

-- Anonymous, May 26, 1999

brad,

all commercials for the gap are inherently evil, regardless of.. anything.

i hate it when my boyfriend's mother tries to guilt-trip him into staying with their dysfunctional family when he could move in with his dad. that really burns me.

I just lost a friend. It's a long story, but I had written something publically that I didn't think would offend her, but it did. I wrote back, deleting the offensive words and explaining I hadn't meant any harm. Her response was to tear me down and tell me every little thing that I do that is wrong wrong wrong. Friends don't ennumerate your faults like that.

Thing is, I didn't mean to lose her. On the few occasions now when we talk, I get so sad because I miss her already. It's going to be awhile before this person and I can be friends again, and it's just a very sad thing.

And I have this little twitchy muscle right between my eye and nose that's driving me NUTS!!!

It annoys me that I am held responsible when people do not keep their dental appointments. And it annoys me that grown adults with jobs and children and bills to pay and pets to care for can not remember that they have a filling appointment at 4:15pm. It annoys me that the hygienist in my office tries to tell me how to do my job, even though she doesn't really know what she's talking about. And it annoys me even more that she stands over my shoulder to make sure I actually *do* what she's telling me to do. It annoys me that she shows up 20-30 minutes late every day and that I have to get yelled at by the patients who are made to sit in the waiting room while she takes her sweet time. It also annoys me that she takes phone calls when she's in with patients. I find that unacceptable, as do many of our patients. It annoys me that I can't tell Dr. J or his wife about any of this, because I know they will stick up for Doreen *if* they even listen to me at all. It annoys me that I have to *tell someone* when I am going to use the restroom, because if the phone should ring while I'm in there and I'm not at my desk, no one will answer it unless I've asked them to ahead of time.

Whew! Thanks, Pamie! I *do* feel better now!

I wish I could track down who came to work with this flu bug that has made me it's home. If I could spend five minutes with their sorry greedy ass I would hold them down and hawker loogi down their "I don't call in sick" throat. Grrrrr...cough-cough..aaAAchooo!

well. had another talk w/ my boyfriend. turns out that not only is he still in love with his ex, but he broke up with me. even though he stills loves me. so much for trust.

It's not that life is pissing me off so much as stressing me out. We've found the perfect flat (apartment for you Americans) and have had an offer accepted by the vendor, so we're now chewing our nails and waiting to see if our mortgage application is accepted. It's all a bit touch and go because we want to borrow quite a bit more than the bank usually lends, and although we can obviously quite easily afford the repayments and our bank manager has written us a letter of recommendation, we are still on tenderhooks until we get it all confirmed. I'll be seriously disappointed if we can't buy this flat.

Another annoying factor is that Tristan (my husband) has to go to Barbados for a week's business trip on Saturday. He's not happy because he hates Barbados, viewing it as the cheesiest place on earth, and he has to go with a really annoying colleague. I'm not happy because I'll miss him! I'm especially not happy because it's a long weekend this weekend and I would have liked for us to have gone away somewhere, but instead I'll be mooching around the flat by myself, trying not to spend money (need it all to buy the bloody flat).

Also, I'm feeling homesick at the moment - we saw my family down in NZ for a week when we went down there to get married in March, but it wasn't for long enough, and we have to go to a wedding in South Africa in January, so we won't have enough annual leave left to go down to NZ again until Christmas 2000! It's a 24 hour flight to NZ from England, so you have to head down for three weeks or so to make it worth the journey. So that sucks the big kumara.

On the bright side, my parents will hopefully visit us in August.

On another bright side, I like the Gap ads, especially Khakis Soul ... you know 'just one look at you, and the world's all right with me ...'. Sweet. And the sun's shining, which doesn't happen often in London.

Well, I'm sick and tired of being too exhausted to even be sick and tired!! Now that's a bitch!

Pamie, missed ya here in DC. That was one helluva storm though. I got caught in it on the way to a bar in Adams Morgan. I did have that "disheveled wet look" that's all the craze with those kids today. So that was good.

Gotta disagree slightly with you on Feel This Book. There were moments in there where I laughed out loud. Look, they're the quintessential "I don't give a crap" Gen-X comedians. I kinda expected a book like that.

But if you want to read something that's funny, smart, AND interesting, I'm reading "How to Talk Dirty and Influence People" by Lenny Bruce now. I always loved his comedy, but never knew much about him. Anyway, this autobiography is a great read.

I'm so frustrated with people who put on acts to lure you into their lives and once you're in they turn on you. They think that because you're already involved with them, they could throw away all common courtesy and respect and you're forced to just deal with raw emotion, uncut 24/7, no consideration, no tact. All my relationships have been this way, and apparently this is the way it was meant to be *sigh*.

-- Anonymous, May 27, 1999

I hate cold callers! I have to screen them at work, and they always come on to you as if they know your boss personally, making telling mistakes like calling Robert "Bob" as in "Tell Bob it's Rick... what's it about? Oh, it's about business, ma'am." No S**t! Sometimes they're trying to get names of other people in our company, and when I tell them it's against our policy to give them out, they say, "I wouldn't want to work with such a secretive company anyhow! How rude!" and then hang up. Huh. As if they didn't just do me a *favor* by getting rid of themselves.

I also hate how I'm responsible for the health and well-being of the espresso machine. I came in first thing on Monday morning and was immediately hit with, "What's wrong with the Espresso machine! Why isn't it working? Why didn't you send me email Friday telling me it wasn't working?!" Um, well, because it *was* working on Friday, honey.

Vent??? Boy Pamie comes to my town and I don't even get a chance to see her. To think I missed out on a prime chance to stalk her in person or at least to bow down and tell her I'm not worthy. Judging by a few of the other responses, we could have had a Pamie convention. Lets face it, now that Eric's brother has graduated from the UofM, what are the chances she'll evr be back? Another good opportunity lost. Thank God its a holiday weekend so I can go drown my sorrows. Glad to hear you had a good time (Cole Field House not withstanding).
