Y2K problem with Oracle on NT

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Oracle: biggest baddest client-server database. Several departments in our company use Oracle version 7. It is compliant. However, it runs on NT, which needs a service pack to be compliant. This version of Oracle is not supported on that service pack. Therefore to be compliant these departments need to convert to version 8. Not a trivial process, apparently. Fun, huh?

Wrong. Go check Oracle's web-site.

Oracle 7.3.4 (with service-packs) should run fine on NT 4 SP4, per Oracle tech-support.

..but NT SP4 is not Y2K correct. You need SP5, .. er 6, well maybe ....

So they will have to WAIT till the new SP comes out to test ORACLE 7.3.x, eh??? Yes!

Er, just repeating what a guy in that department said, no personal expertise, probably shouldn't have posted it.

Good point - I stand corrected...

nimrod,

Excuse me? The vast majority of information posted here is at least backed-up with links, or other verifyable sources. We demand it. <:)=

A link doesn't amount to a hill of beans, sysman (pun intended)

Ok nimrod, you believe what you want. Ignore 60 Minutes. Ignore the Senate. Ignore all the warning signs. Good luck next year, you may very well need it. <:)=
