To mr yourdon my prayers are with you. Like Winston Churchill before you, the speech on y2k will be the most important speech you will ever have to make in your life. The fate of millions of people around the world rest on the words that you deliver tomorrow. Be bold as a lion the lord is with you. Tell it to them honestly as you see it. Just the facts like joe friday of dragnet would say. Our govt's time to make right and put it on the table is now. No more lies. We have no more time to waste we have a decision to make right now. either we are going to muster all hands on deck and give it all we got now and see it thru to recovery or die when the nation hits the point of no confidence left in a govt that lets it's people shink into the black hole of y2k outage, hopelessness and panic.

America needs hope most of all. 95% of Americans think America is heading off the cliff with kosovo, chinagate, Russia and Asia in the greatest economic debacle since the great depression. We are not stupid we see things are potentially explosive. Y2k will be like throwing a match on gas that has been heated up, If we dont tell the public like it is. That despite the fact that even though billions of dollars and millions of man hours has been applied to attempting to fix the y2k problem we are still not there yet. What this means is big failures are almost certain to occur.

If we dont spend the dollars now in pre-positioning supplies, training our communities to handle the crisis now, millions more will die. I want to see the govt.'s commitment to the survival of our people, and life on this planet by actions not just more useless speeches. The time for action is now. Let's see them walk the talk. the lives of all our loved ones are at risk. We must develop a nationwide plan to face y2k proactively to instill hope and encouragement in a very scared public. Only honest forthright leadership will do from our nations leaders. No more B.S bump in the road soundbites. Y2k is a serious challenge which will take nothing less than a serious ten's of billion dollar community contingency commitment plan from the Govt now to minimize and lessen it's potential deadly impact. We must back off the wars in kosovo and Iraq while it is still possible. God be with you Ed in the name of our Lord Jesus I ask this for you. Give them your best. Remember we all love our children no matter what part of the world were from. Let's work hard to give them a better world. God bless you Ed Yourdon and family.

Do not worry Mike - with the support of this Forum (way way over a hundred suggestions), especially Diane's efforts, Ed will not fail - he will shine. I will be glued to c-span tomorrow (is it on c-span, it's my day off?, quel tiempo anyone?) - really, of all the y2k honchos I admire Ed's intellect and Gazza North's go-get-em puch-bag prose style the most.
