Vestment worn by Pope John Paul II

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

I am looking for the symbol that Pope John Paul II wore on his vestments and was also on shirts and banners when he visited the United States in 1981 during his World Peace Tour. The paster or our church has asked me to sew this symbol on a stole. Thank you in advance to any attention given to this matter.

Barbara,

I beleive the symbol of the Pontiff is the crossed keys as this signifies he as direct decentant of Peter has been given the Keys first offered and accepted by Christ to Peter. I am surprised your priest has a confused thought on this or perhaps he is educating you in self help.

Peace And Well Being.
