Using a Japanese Casio 7000SX with English Windows 95

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

A friend of mine has just purchased a Casio 7000SX in Japan and all the software?instructions are in Japanese. He has not been able to transfer the images to his PC. Is it possible to download the necessary software to enable the camera to be used with Windows 95 (English Version)? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

The standalone camera download application is not available but a TWAIN plug-in for photoediting apps like photoshop is available at: http://casio-usa.com/digitalimaging/fun-connectcomp.cfm Version 3.0 is the one for QV-7000SX even though they don't say so. This lets the editor access the camera. It may not be needed however. I have Win95b and Windows Explorer automatically recognized the camera and provided a My Digital Camera icon under My Computer. Any editor can now access the camera directly via the standard Open File dialog. Boot the computer with the camera already connected to the serial port and it should find it as New Hardware and install the native Win drivers.
