I think that we have already entered the y2k end game and it's just a matter of time before it can't be hidden anymore

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

With the reports of problems with the euro, new york state's april audit, and banks demanding that vendors make the june 30 deadline, I think the y2k end game has already begun. It will just me a matter of time before the workarounds will become to overwelming to deal with and the real face of y2k will start to become apparent to the public. The 60 minutes broadcast is the govt's way of letting it be known that the fit is going to hit the fan. Since big money controls the T.V. airwaves, It must already have been decided to break the bad news to the public via 60 minutes as a way to guage how the public will handle it. The powers to be know it's going to be bad, now they are testing the waters to see how heavy a control response will have to be positioned before the eventday. They may even have several miniblack outs prior to it, to practice response times for critical force measures. Last night I saw police practicing how fast they can set up flares at intersections across town. Be prepared y2k aware mike

Mike,

Are there any published reports about "New York state's April audit"?

(Beginning X-Files theme)

So how are police going to fend off rioters, looters, ect with road flares?

But I thought Y2K was going to be 100% proven on April 1st when New York, Canada, and Japan entered fiscal year 2000? Just as companies push back there Y2K compliance dates, I see many doomers are now doing the same as well.

Ed,

Here is one report (as noted by the ex-Sanger site): http://www.civic.com/news/1999/may/civ-newyork-5-21-99.html

I think I remember another at: http://www.nytimes.com/library/tech/99/05/biztech/articles/06year.html But, since the site requires registration and my registered cookie is at work, I can not be sure.

Thanks for your continued active support of this forum,

pat,if you thought y2k would be proven on april first, then you are letting other people think for you.4-1-99 only affected accounting software.there is no way to test date related chips replace only and wait for new years.instead of trying to be "right"and prove the doomers "wrong"you need to do more research on how y2k can affect your life and lifestyle.the doomers can take care of themselves.

This isn't a published report about NY's fiscal year problems. It's a paper prognosticating what happened to NY City during the 2000 transition. It's written in the form of a report by a Chief Justice 21 months after the rollover.

The first half is pretty turgid but very detailed. About half way down after the last graph, the action begins. Some predictions (stock market drop in early '99 and NY fiscal rollover problems) were wrong. But the scope of the details make for interesting reading. In any case, if anyone wants to wade through this, here's the URL and hopefully a link:
