Is a Maine Coon kitten bred with a racoon?

Nope, absolutely not. They are 100% cat. (Such a breeding could not be fertile, anyway -- the two species are too different.)However, if you look at a tabby MC (especially a brown tabby), you will see that the stripes on the tail and the markings around the eyes suggest a raccoon, hence the name.

Doesn't the name also come from the way they act (i.e. picking up food with thier paws, etc.)?
