Nikon USA extenteded warranty (lens) for Canadian buyers

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Camera Equipment : One Thread

I purchased a Nikon US warranty lens from a mail order company and had it fedex to my residence in Canada. I was about to fill out the warranty card but noticed that the 4 year extended warranty is only valid in the USA. I was under the impression that a US warranty applies internationally. If that is the case then obviously I should have purchased the grey market model and save a bit of money since they are both warrantied for the same one year period. Can anyone clarify this for me? Thanks.

Peter, I don't think Canon USA can help Brandon with his Nikon. Annecdotally Nikon USA is much pickier about this stuff than Canon though. I'd suggest you call them.

The 1 year US warrenty should apply in Canada. The only 4 year extended warrenty from Canon that I am aware of is an extra cost item and only applies to Canon USA. You could probably send it to a USA service center if you had to.

OOPS! I could of swore that said Canon when I read it the first time. Yes Nikon is much more fussy about their warrenty coverage than Canon.
