I have just ordered one copy for testing purposes. So far as I know the copy from www.videocds.com is original. A check from other retailers also confirms that You've Got Mail VCD had a day and date release with the US VHS rental only copy and US DVD sell-through and rental. Email from VideoCDs also confirms this fact. The package is different from the US version though...like so many other movies. Right now the movie only came out about three days ago so no one owns a copy yet(unless a pirate copy was bought). I will tell you by next week, when I get my test copy in and play with it, if it is a worthwhile buy.

WE HAVE AN ORIGINAL!!! The You've Got Mail is an original version (from that is). After a few days of testing and playing the discs through our many machines. A JVC master studio DVD player, Philips Dual-Laser, Sony five carousel, and Panasonic elite LaserDisc/DVD/Video CD players. The movie played beautifully through all of them. Next we slipped it into the BTC Three-Disc stand alone VCD player and then a Panasonic portable VCD Player(w/o screen), and also a Aiwa portable player(w/Screen). Again the movie played like a champ with gorgous video, no artifacts, and no messages. Our last test, the one that very few have passed(save for Goldeneye, Soldier, Titanic, Armageddon, and Ghost CD-I version), the computer. We placed it in our SIS6326 equipped AGP computer and ran PowerDVD(optimized for SIS6326 but not really well). This movie looked great on our computer and it even sounded great through a no name sound card. This movie is worth it for any price. Note: I may be biased since I like Meg Ryan, but the quality of the transfer is just great.

This silly thing omited one of my words. www.videocds.com sells the original disc. That is where I got my store's tester copy. Sorry about that.
