Y2k glitch in the College Board SAT marking systems

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I scored 1520. 780 Verbal, 740 Math. With that kind of score, something HAS to have gone wrong with their computers! ;)

(Yes, this is a blatant brag. I'm posting anonymously to make up for it.)

This is MinnesotaSmith, author of the Y2K-preparatory website http://y2ksafeminnesota.hypermart.net. I seem to remember reading that not too long ago that ETS & company had reconfigured the college board exams to bring midrange scores back to around the 50th percentile of scores. Basically, on an absolute basis, scores had continued to fall over time in the U.S., and it was increasingly awkward for admissions committees to use, so the scores were in effect inflated. Hope this sheds some light on the subject.

AH HA - so my 1510 back in 1974 actually beat him....Yuck, yuck, yuck. Knew there was something good about inflation.

With interest and penalties, what is my 1972-model 1580 worth these days?
