In an effort to understand and help those students who are not being successful in the typical learning enviornment. We as educators are expected to take those "risks" and put our careers on the line for listening and talking to the kids that the "system" does not have the capacity to help. WHY? because, the connections (the supporting adults that are to be there, in the first place, are not!)are not there to help them. Believe me I am no expert but, I am in the classroom as a teacher and have also, been one of those students who could have used a guiding light, that I probobaly would have refused but, not really have meant it!
