Millenium Viruses

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Just read an article on viruses set to strike at midnight-eve of 2000. Of 130 known about 10-12 are expected to be of the variety that can fry computer innards. It would seem that coupled with the y2k hit were gonna take, large or small, this will finish us off.But good.

Don't forget about the solar flares, WW3, and the loose assortment of lunatics out there. Some (hopefully most) people will survive. Stay vigilant and Prepare. You may not be able to do much to increase your chances if TSHTF, but every little bit (AND A LARGE GUN WITH LOTS OF AMMO) helps.

If you go to symantics web page, you will find a page devoted to virus myths. The millenium virus was listed on that page.

Info on millenium viruses can be found at: http://www.csis.org/html/y2kw9.html This is the page for the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a 'reputable' organization that's been around for 30+ years. Kinda scary...

To Paul Davis: If this is a myth to be debunked, would you kindly share the 'symantics' address?

From a newbie, no longer lurking.

The CSIS is the site where I got the information. By the way we are talking about many different known viruses, not just 1. Debunk That!
