M.Ed. Partnerships Cohort 3 Governance Team Meeting - May 6, 1999 > Present: Barb Olson, Sue Janson, Karen Keenan, Tom Boman, Jean Sramek, > Karin Jacobson, and Mary Jean Menzel. > > The following topics were discusses: > Reminder to all who wish to use the UMD computer labs this summer: you need to purchase an unlimited UMD computing pass for approx. $36.00 (good all summer; Unlimited UMD computing pass will be $38.50 next Fall Semester. UCD will continue to pay the minimum computer access fee for us which is going up from $2.50 per credit to $23.10/FS. Email Tom and Karen (tboman or kkeenan1) and make an appointment for 5/26 to discuss your research project and submit your formal research project proposal. If you need to see one of the instructors for scheduling summer meetings, please post your request via email at least two weeks in advance. Mont. 111 will be open for any teams who wish to meet. > > Mary Jean and Terry Anderson are working with the M.Ed. Director to > approve the Program Plans. They met last Friday with Dr. Lundstrom. > On Tuesday, 5/11/99, the Program Plan goes forward to CEHSP's > Academic Affairs Committee. Hopefully, it will be approved and > ready for distribution to the Cohort on Wednesday. Someone had asked if there were any examples of "good" Research > Project/Thesis papers available to look at. Tom is going to arrange for a selection of "Very Good" research projects to be on Library Reserve in the UMD Library. All thesis are currectly available at the Circulation Desk for checkout. Just ask! > > Someone also asked about deals on magazine subscriptions since we are students. Yes, all you have to do is check student on the subscription card. STUDENT SUBSCRIPTION. You will receive a student rate. Also, you are eligible for other "STUDENT RATES" around town. Just tell them that you are a UMD student. > > We're still trying to decide which professional journal to select to > replace the Utne Reader. Note: UMD basic computer access is included in our cohort flat-rate tuition. Only certain labs are available for our use, but for the remainder of the labs we need to purchase the unlimited pass. Note, use your Ucard/Debit card to pay for your printing. 5 cents per page for black and white. 85 cents per page for color. >

M.Ed. Partnerships Cohort 3 REVISED Agenda/Calendar 5/99

May 12th Agenda 4:30-5:30 Mont 209 with Scott Fitzsimmons presenting INSPIRATION, organizational, planning, webbing software. 5:30-6 Tom reviews the expectations and format of the FORMAL Research Project Proposal due 5/26/99. 6-15 Dinner in Mont 111 6:15-30 Gov. Team reports - highlights these minutes. 6:30-8:30 back to Mont 209 computing lab to write FORMAL Research Project Proposal. Be sure to use proper cover sheet. Copies in Cohort 3 box. Consult with Tom and Karen as needed.

> All teams need to turn in the following by the end of the evening (8:20) > on May 12: Thesis Title, Hypothesis, and team members (hard copy and email mmenzel). Topics may be forwarded to certain individuals > who may have input for our research. > All of the teams who have not yet turned in their research proposal > need to do so ASAP. > ITV to Chisholm has been cancelled for 5/12/99; No more ITV for the > remainder of May. > > > On May 19, Mont 111 Tom will be covering some information on surveys and research design. Deluxe dinner at 6 in Mont 111 catered by Bulldog Pizza (but it's not pizza...) Leanne Rutherford will also be there from 7-8:20 p.m. to conduct the end of year one evaluation. Please email mmenzel if you will not be able to participate in the live evaluation, a written version will be mailed to you. > > There will be NO formal class on May 26. This is a time for groups to organize for the summer and submit Formal Research Project by the end of the evening. If you'd like to consult with Tom and Karen, email them to reserve a time slot.
