Thanks, Old Git!

I just wanted to say, "Thank you!" for your continual bits on cool preparation tips. One of them, soaking peas before planting them, is such a winner. We planted some of our peas around April 1, and they just started coming up a couple of weeks ago (3 to 4 weeks germination). We soaked the second wave of peas overnight and planted them 10 days ago and they are already up and some are taller than the first wave!

What you are doing is awesome and my family and I thank you! Keep it up!

P.S. When you do this, your posts become the most flame-free threads on this forum, something very needed. (Imagine my family - all seven of us - doing the wave for ya)

Mine are halfway up the latticework, and going strong. May need to extend the lattice (or hope the sunflowers and corn hurry up LOL).

I'm imagining all seven of you doing the wave, Brett--chuckle, snort. Great mental picture, thanks. I'd like to post more useful stuff but I just don't have enough time. I'll keep doing what I can, though.

This has been one heck of a super day. I get this astonishingly nice compliment up there and then some guy driving by on the street asked me if I was a professional landscaper! I had to tell him, no, I'm lazy, I just plant what doesn't need much care or pruning. That means I plant a lot of stuff that's different--LOL! Because those garden departments WANT you to plant stuff that needs care, so they can sell you all those sprays and clippers and pruners and things. I planted up the whole front yard, you see, trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals--hardly any grass out there, except for a strip across the very front. Lots of herbs--you should see my huge rosemary SHRUB--gorgeous! And the chamomile looks so lush and green right now. Some of the thymes are blooming and bees are buzzing around the tiny flowers. And the essential epazote (the stuff that acts like Beano!) is thriving.

Isn't this a great time of year! Wait for summer, though, I shall be cursing.

Now, I have to ask you all--with all those peas, do you have a pot to pea in? Sorry, I wouldn't resist.

now that you've soaked your peas, you need to soak your beans and corn also, it makes ahuge difference. it's even better if you wait until there's a forecast of rain before you go out and seed. works like a charm every time.
