Tripod reccommendation

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I'm searching for a good inexpensive tripod to go under my new (as yet received) CP950. I'm considering ProMaster 6050 or 6400 and Velbon DF-50. Any ideas which is better? Should I consider another brand for the under $50 price range? And of course... where should I buy it for the best price? Thanks much!

Almost any tripod (assuming well made- no loose joints or controls that won't tighten or work) is fine. The secre t is to make some some form of holder so that you can suspend some weight to hold the tripod down (and at the same time might make it so that the legs can only open so far). No tripod in the light weight class is heavy enough and the weight of digital cameras is of no matter. I use an older Velbron (probably 15 year old) and have never had a problem with it.
