Do you doubt the government?

From: GNs site, , which was taken, in turn from the Detroit News:

Electrical generators, the Y2K item of choice for the most pessimistic, are particularly hard to come by. Generators, of course, would be useful only if the country's power grid failed and there was a serious and prolonged blackout -something the federal government and the utilities say will not happen.

Nonetheless, Northern Tool & Equipment Co. of Minnesota has a six-month waiting list for some generators, said Brent Soderberg, the generator buyer. "We're selling them faster than we can get them in."

(Sarcasm on) Ahh, come on, does this mean that someone actually doubts the federal government or the utilities? Does this mean the entire nation isnt listening to Dan Dan the Power Man? For shame, to doubt our .gov. It isnt as if theyve given the people reason to doubt them, is it? (end sarcasm)

No shortage in our neck of the woods. Chase pitkin, Loews, Home Depot all have them ( they have so many they even sell them to ya :-) )No problem with Aladin lamps or other "rare" equipment either. Here is Rochester, NY

I posted the same question one month ago. I wonder if anybody has changed their mind? <:)=

Do YOU believe the government's claims of Y2K compliance?

De:

In general, generators are readily available here. You just can't get the good ones. They have been sold. Fortunately, I've had a Honda for some time. Not for Y2K but to run power equipment away from a plug. You need that in the country.
