Olympus Floppydisk Adapter - Unable to read

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I just received my Olympus D400Z today. I took a few pictures using the 8 meg card that came with the camera. I tried using the Floppydisk Adapter to load the pictures into my PC but I'm having trouble.

Firts, Norton Antivirus says the disk has the Bloodhound Virus in the boot sector. I doubt this.... so I tried turning off Norton Autoprotect.

Then I get the message that the disk is not formatted.

OK, I try to format and get an error.

I don't know where to go from here.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks Doug Haddock

As I was reading your question I wondered if you were using a Mac or Winblowz? Then you wrote: "Then I get the message that the disk is not formatted". You're using winblows. Have you installed the driver from the floppy that came with your adapter? Are inserting the SmartMedia correctly? (The floppy adapter upsidedown and the SmartMedia "GOLD" side showing. Are the batteries in and fresh? Have you seen the FLASPATH STATUS MONITOR icon in the lower right side of your taskbar? How about Start Menu>>Programs>>FlasPath? Is it there?

If the answer to all of these is yes, Have you tried WINDOWS EXPLORER> A/: Anything there? Please give more info on your system, RS
